Arai Crash Helmet
It’s been a while since I posted anything but I’ve put loads of new pictures on the web pages for you to see. I have some really unusual wedding cakes booked in for the summer, so watch this space.
Please book your wedding cakes now to avoid disappointment; to complete them to my standards I can only do one or occasionally two a week!!!!
This Arai trials helmet was made with just 2 days notice! It's an actual model copied from an internet picture. I couldn't find an image of the top or sides so had to make it up from similar looking helmets. The design was very complex and somewhat tricky working with black sugar paste but I managed to pull it off!
A very late night enabled me to fit making this cake in, but I had previously turned down a short notice request the week before and felt bad the rest of the week, so gave this one a try. I always try to fit people in whenever possible.

Ratatouille
Not everyone likes to see a few rats eating their cake, but for a Disney Ratatouille fan it was perfect. The rats were modelled from one piece of icing then trimmed with the pink for ears, feet etc. The eyes were a ball of white paste pushed in to a hollow and the pupils added with a paint brush. They didn’t have any character until I added the pink lips and teeth, then they seemed to come alive. Like many designs a well decorated board can really make it stand out.

Make Up Bag
A ladies or girls cake made for a friends daughter. She is a lovely girl and deserved something a little bit special. The other cakes I had seen on this theme did not utilise the removed section of cake so I added this onto the side. I went to town a bit with all the accessories, but it was fun to make all the different items.

Stihl Chainsaw Celebration Cake
This is a cake I made for a chaps 25th year service with the National Trust. It had to be a Stihl chainsaw, the joke was that he had one for each year! It was quite a challenge and taken on at short notice but I am pleased with the results. Using a real chainsaw as a model, I made a deep cake to keep it in proportion, the most difficult bit was the freestanding handle which had to be supported as it hardened off.
